The Texas Landscape
Homestead Guesthouse is situated within an idyllic 14 acre farm compound, part of a larger 300 acre family ranch now in its seventh generation. The property was settled in 1872 by Werner Krause and his wife Maria Krause who were German farmers, as was commonplace in the area at the time. Two houses remain on the property. There are numerous old outbuildings on the property including barn, corn crib, smoke house, and a collection of antique farm implements. The dry-stack stone fences seen wrapping the homestead compound, as well as most of the entire ranch, were laid originally by Werner Krause. You’ll enjoy watching cattle grazing and wildlife feeding around the property.
